Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you work on?
Individuals who are 17 and up; under 17 requires a parent’s authorization and “special need” clients need their doctor(s) approval and (if applicable) their caregiver present. I cannot perform couples massages as that takes 2 therapists and I am a solo therapist.

Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress or have you undress in another room and wrap a sheet around you and then assist you onto the table.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times. This is a requirement by the State of Texas. Within these limits, I will strive to make you as comfortable as possible.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, face, butt, and shoulders. Abdominal work may be suggested depending on the type of pain you are experiencing. A signed consent form will be required if you would like work on the breast / chest area.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

What cities do you go to?
If you are wanting an in-home massage, I'm willing to drive up to 45 miles from my location (Willow Park, TX 76087) without charging an extra fee (10$) - you can check with map quest to see if you fall within that range. Note that I only will accept in-home massage bookings if they are around the physical therapy patients I currently have that day.

What types of payment do you take?
checks, cash, major credit cards.

What information do you need to make an appointment?
Your name, address, phone number you can be reached at on the day of your appointment, and any special needs you might have.

Can you do deep pressure?
Yes. It has been rare that I haven’t been able to achieve a deep enough pressure on someone.

Can I come to your house?
My studio is located at 112 Wagon Wheel Rd, Willow Park TX 76087. Massages are by appointment only.

Do you go to people's houses?

Yes, I do go to people's houses in a variety of cities. There can be an extra charge of 10$ if the travel is over 45 miles. Note that I only will accept in-home massage bookings if they are around the physical therapy patients I currently have that day.

Can you do 30 minute massages?
Yes

Can you massage my wife and me on the same day?
Yes, absolutely.

What if I get a boner?

Boners are natural to get during a massage, especially when the thighs are worked on. The nerves in the area and increased blood flow can create an unintentional boner and this by no means indicates you are sexually attracted nor have sexual intentions. It is nothing to be embarrassed about and it will be ignored and unmentioned during the massage.

Do you give "happy endings"?
No. Massage is a health care profession. Any sexual advances will end with the termination of the massage.

Where can complaints be filed?
For a bad massage, please call or message me directly - but if you feel I or any other massage therapist or business has broken a law complaints can be filed at:

Ethics & Discipline Manager
NCBTMB
1901 S. Meyers Rd., Suite 240
Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181-5243

A website providing information on how to file is: http://www.ncbtmb.org/file-complaint

Do you provide physical therapy services?

Physical therapy services will start in 2023. They will be cash based which means I will not be taking insurance. Medicare patients cannot be seen under this business model regardless of whether they are willing to pay cash for services. If you have insurance and would like to try and be reimbursed you can file your own claims with your insurance company. I would be considered an out-of-network therapist. Therapy sessions will be 1:1 meaning that only you will be seen during the time you paid for. Most sessions will last 1 hour. Sessions will be 60$/hour for 2023 since this is a new service I am providing. This price is set to increase in 2024 to 75$/hour.
